Errands Helper is a South African errand service platform that connects customers with local helpers to assist with everyday tasks. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use our app:
- Name — to identify your account and errands
- Email address — for account login and password recovery
- Phone number — to contact you about your errands
- Area / address — to match you with nearby helpers
- Payment information — processed securely via Yoco (we never store your card details)
- Errand details — pickup address, delivery address and instructions you provide
3. How We Use Your Information
- To process and manage your errand requests
- To assign a suitable helper to your errand
- To send you notifications about your errand status
- To process credit purchases and payments
- To improve our service
4. Who We Share Your Information With
We only share your information with:
- Helpers — your name, phone number and errand details are shared with the helper assigned to your errand
- Yoco — our payment processor. Their privacy policy applies to payment transactions
- Firebase (Google) — our database and authentication provider
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Credit System
Credits purchased on Errands Helper are non-refundable once used for an errand. Unused credits do not expire. Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred to another account.
6. Data Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase with encryption in transit and at rest. Passwords are encrypted and never stored in plain text. Payment processing is handled by Yoco, a PCI-DSS compliant payment provider.
7. Your Rights (POPIA)
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator
8. Cookies
Our app uses local storage to keep you logged in between sessions. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
9. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
